What is Unified Combatives Academy(UCA)?

Unified Combatives Academy is a scenario-based martial arts and self-defense school focused on preparing students for real-world threats. We combine striking, grappling, awareness, and decision-making skills to help build safer individuals, families, and communities.

What is “full-spectrum self-defense”?

Full-spectrum self-defense means training across all ranges of combat—striking, clinch, grappling, ground, improvised weapons, situational awareness, and stress-response conditioning. Our goal is to prepare you for the unpredictability of real-life encounters, not sport-only competition.

What makes UCA different from traditional martial arts schools?

We are scenario-based, not choreography-based. Training is built around modern threats, realistic reactions, and practical application. We constantly update instruction based on real-world data, personal protection principles, and evolving threat environments.

Many schools train for points—we train for survival.

Who can train at UCA? Do I need experience?

Students of all experience levels are welcome. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have years of martial arts training, our curriculum scales to your skill level, fitness, and comfort. No prior experience is required.

What martial arts and systems do you teach?

Our training blends multiple disciplines, including:

  • Menke Kenpo Americana
  • Thut Ti Lethwei (Burmese kickboxing)
  • Grappling & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals
  • Combat Fitness & conditioning
  • Scenario-based self-defense

This gives students a complete, practical foundation for real-world self-protection.

What is Menke Kenpo Americana?

Menke Kenpo Americana is a modern evolution of traditional Kenpo, created through decades of training and real-world application. It combines practical striking, movement efficiency, and adaptable self-defense skills suitable for real-life encounters—not sport fighting.

Who are the instructors?

Chief Instructor Pete Menke is a retired Marine (22 years, 17 in Recon/Force Recon), an 8th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo, a Black Belt in MCMAP, a Thut Ti Lethwei Saya, and an instructor for military special operations units.

Our instructor undergoes continuous training to maintain high standards of realism, safety, and skill.

What is Thut Ti Lethwei?

Thut Ti Lethwei is a form of traditional Burmese kickboxing known for powerful striking, clinch work, and intensity. It focuses on raw, effective stand-up combat, making it extremely practical for self-defense. At UCA, it is taught by an officially recognized Saya (Instructor) under Sayar Win Zin Oo of Myanmar.

Is this training safe for beginners?

Yes. Safety is our highest priority. Training is controlled, structured, and taught progressively so beginners can learn at their own pace. You will never be pushed into techniques or intensity levels you’re not ready for.

Do you offer classes for kids?

Yes, (kids group: ages 6-12) we offer age-appropriate training that focuses on confidence, coordination, discipline, and basic self-defense concepts.

What should I expect in my first class?
